WRITE TO OUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE HERE:
SITLA is considering removing over 3,400 acres from what is known as "Zone 6" of the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.
To help save Moe's Valley please:
1.) Sign the petition! The more voices, the better. It takes 5 minutes!
2.) Write to SITLA and our decision-makers asking them to protect the Greater Moe's Valley Area regardless of the outcome surrounding the Northern Corridor Highway project
3.) SPREAD THE WORD! Follow us @savemoesvalley on Instagram
Here is a list of the areas that will be gravely affected:
Moe’s Valley and Green Valley Gap Climbing
The threatened Mojave Desert Tortoise
The endangered Dwarf Bear Poppy
Zen and Bear Poppy Bike Trails
65 miles of other multi-use trails
However, this expansion was included in conjunction with the Northern Corridor project, which is affecting public lands north of St. George. If the BLM rescinds the Northern Corridor authorization, half of the Zone 6 land may be sold off and privately developed. Access to public recreation areas could be denied. Vulnerable species will lose their protection. The habitat may be destroyed.
Please provide comments to the federal government urging them to keep the protections in this area, regardless of the outcome surrounding the Northern Corridor project.
We need your help to protect Moe's Valley.
This conservation effort relies on support from the Southern Utah Climbers Alliance. Check out the website and consider becoming a member! It will help us all to protect the areas we love and help organize cleanups and community-building events like the recent 15th Annual Moe's Valley Climbing Festival.
